Right then, i've been a bit busy.
Finally managed to procure myself a real job, starting in 3 weeks time.
But i've also done this:
Parts list so far:
Fox 16” alloys
Jamex Stainless Coilover suspension
Integra R Rear ARB
ES PU Bush kit
New rear callipers
New rear discs
New rear pads
New handbrake cables
Prelude callipers
EBC 282mm discs
OMP road sport pads
Goodridge stainless Brake lines
Rear brace bar
Strut tower bar
Various hammerite
With the car back together, it was off to get sprayed. To stop it looking silly, I chose to keep a Silver colour to the car. I really wanted Frost White, but it would have looked daft, so I Decided on a VW Diamond Silver Metallic.
When it came back from the paintshop, i fitted my OBX catback system and new reg plates. I was well chuffed with the car! Although due to a cock up, the front end was too low. When I raised it, it took me 2 weeks to realise that i’d actually raised it on the piss! Oh well, easily fixed!

During this time, I was completely unhappy with the crap ESi seats. The drivers rail had broken and the lumbar bolster had partially collapsed. No good. After trawling through the EBay, I found some brand new Cobra Daytonas with universal subframes. With a good bit of Sharking, I bought these seats for £160 delivered! When they came through, the subframes were crap. I decided that mucking about with seats wasn’t the greatest idea and decided to go to Demon Tweeks and bite the bullet with a pair of authentic cobra subframes. £120, but well worth it as the seats fitted right in. They were one of the best mods so far and they looked cool too!

Next up I bought a gear knob, short shifter and steering wheel. I didn’t expect much at all from the short shift, but how wrong I was. It really transformed the tactility of the box. Combined with a white Teflon gearknob (good weight and didn’t cost me £50!) and a Momo Tuner steering wheel, my controls were sorted.

After driving around for a few weeks, I finally got around to doing the front bushes. Learning my lesson, I purchased duplicate parts of the front suspension and sent them for sandblasting. The results were excellent and I painted these white to match the rear.

With the car in pieces, I fitted the ASR racing brace and Omni rear LCA’s. In order to prevent corrosion, I coated everyting in acryllic lacquer. These made no noticible difference, but they looked cool and provided a solid mount for the ITR ARB.

With the front, I fitted new upper camber adjustable arms, new bottom ball joints, new front bearings, and new track rod ends. The ITR ARB for the front also went on along with the Prelude brakes that i’d had for a while.

Managed to get it all done in a day, but I was knackered afterwards!
The car had now transformed. It had turned very pointy and had lost its mild nature of before. It constantly wanted to turn in to corners. I loved it! The car would pull and tramline unless you actually drove it. But the harder you pushed, the better it got and everything just made sense.
The chassis was now capable of taking more than the 120bhp of the D16 that was in it.

Thing was, I was a bit strapped for cash so it would have to wait. As an interim, I started stripping interior from the car. By removing the rear seat, spare tyre and sound deadening, the car definitely felt quicker.
So wait I did. After going to LOADS of interviews, I finally managed to land a job that I actually wanted! With a basic salary of almost double my current wage, I thought about selling up and buying an S2000.
Thanks really goes to Sam (mate from CSC forum) who wiped away the bullshit and suggested I get a B18C. He was right. I’d spent too much time and effort not to finish the car.
So it was off in search of an engine. Thanks to Johnny at Tegiwa Imports for coming to my rescue! A full conversion B18C-R with S80 box, driveshafts, gearlinkage, loom and ECU. I went to have a look at the engine. It was still in a 4-Door DB8 ITR. And on the Odometer read 50111km (31k miles!). Despite being dusty, the engine looked spotless. A compression check was performed, and a deposit was placed

So now the buying spree began. Just like doing the suspension, this had to be a proper job. So I did a load of research and started buying the bits. Here goes!
4-1 Stainless Manifold (mugen copy)

And some red candy paint for the rocker cover and engine ancillary brackets and mounts.

Which leads me to today.
I finally picked up this

Yes, i'm happy!

And after a good degrease

Probably loads i’ve missed, but i’ll be closely documenting it all upto and including the engine swap!
Did the clutch and flywheel last night. Amazingly easy when its not in the car. Took us 90 mins and we went very slow and quadrouple checked eveything!
Just some pics and commentry!
So, gearbox off then.

Said gearbox

New and old clutches: Its amazing how good a condition the original one was in, more of it later.

My mate holding the flywheels. The difference in weight is HOOOOGE! All good for response.

Just a close up on the old friction disc. It is in remarkable condition. This is great stuff, because it really gives you a history of the car and confirms the 31k miles it has done. From the looks of thing, not to agressive

New flywheel mounted

All done. Its good that Exedy provide a clutch alignment tool, makes things pretty easy. Most awkward thing was getting the actual box back on. I found the best thing to do was to align the top and rotate downwards. I had to be quite forceful, but the the bloody thing isn't light! When it finaly went on, it was smoooooth! All done

Well, a couple of setbacks. Nothing too major, but a small pain. The front and rear spoilers won't be on until next week. I have failed to find hoses for my oil cooler in time, fuel pump and oil gauges will also have to wait, and barring a miracle, I won't have my daiyamas for monday (Macjap Mascrat Meet)

Was meant to start the swap tonight, but since my Dad ISN'T going on holiday till tomorrow, will have to wait. Still, shouldn't be a problem with Sat and Sun to do it.
Back to the build up, did the cam belt and pulley last night:
Overall, not too bad of a job, but the XS pulleys were obviously set for a B16, and I had to advance them 2.5-3º in order to make them match the ITR items. In doing so, I moved the camshaft (oops!). From then on it took me 20 mins to realise i'd done so and there was much confusion over why the belt didn't fit right, despite being 11 belt teeth from one gear to the other like on the original cambelt.
Also, after taking the water pump off, it was decided not to change it. The bloody thing was SPOTLESS! Me and Steve (mate whos helping) were both suitably impressed that something 10 years old and immersed in water was so rust free! Again, the owner must have taken great care and used a high concentration of Anti-freeze or some other anti rust fluid.
The only thing left to do was get rid of the red crinkle on the original cam cover and prep the engine mounts for painting:
Here come the pics (sorry about the blurry ones):
Cam cover off, time to get started.

Cam protective cover off, easily done. Again, in good condition

Right, everything is lined up for TDC, so we cut the belt. Only for me to move the exhaust cam!

All sorted and new belt is on. Even with the adjuster pully fully slack, its a tight fit!

My mate holding up the old and new pulley. The new one is less than half the weight of the old one and is got a smaller diameter. Pull back a couple of bhp and more response

Bye bye red crinkle! Nitromorse is ace!

Just to say that the engine went in:

Just managed to fix the problem with my ECU and was coming back out to plug in and feel the full power when I came out to find this:

Boss reversed into me

Oh well, might get another respray now.
